//ph747 : blend 25.06.05_

Taking a year out since our last Hardcore party was going to be a risky move, so we did our damnest to make sure no one would miss that PH was back for another party! And oh, how it got us in trouble...

Taking a slight 'tribute' to a rather well-known international travel agency, our advertising campaign consisted of rather 'familar' images that we plastered all over our website and flyers. We also continued the aviation theme by silly radio ads, DJ intros, air hostesses (who did what any usual air hostess would do, and get trollied) - and added extra, sound, lights and props to Blend nightclub - it was all madness.

So far we haven't had a single negative response to the night, and even though it wasn't the busiest PH so far, just about everyone has said it's been the best yet...

//ph requestline 2 : kiss blue 17.09.04_

Almost a year from the day (well, 2 days), PH Requestline made its return to Kiss Blue for more of the same cheese-filled, rinse-tastic anthems that you chaps can never seem to get enough of!

As well as residents Kam and Scoob-E (DamNation was away in Aussie that weekend, philistine!), our regular arsenal of guests DJs including Darkmain, Ares, Frantic-X and Hardcore debut from Cheet made for one heck of a varied night!

Thanks to the faithful who made their way along - it's always touching to see the oldskool massive (and by that, we mean the P104 days) make the effort to slip into something other than slippers and head on it for a bit of reminiscing!

A well-overdue return for Planet Hardcore in the '04 (ooh, it rhymes!) and with Adam Bomb now departed for pastures sunnier in Aussie, we thought we'd come back with a bang... or was that the sound of the cannon?

That's right, the themes continued, and this time it was our little take on all things "Ooh-arr" and grog, as we brought you the Illegal Pirates of Hardcore!

We could also tell that you lot had been holding out like a sex starved teenager - the placed was packed to the rafters, and Planet Oldskool took another step up and brought not one, but two special guests! Notable mention to 48 Sonic who was so chuffed to play out all of his old Rave and Jungle thatw e had to literally prise him off the decks after 4 hours!

//innovators 001 : st. james 17.04.04_

A little change this time round - with no PH for a while, we were delighted to play a support room for the huge "Innovators: 001" gig at the St. James. Actually, it was a more of a battle, as Kam and DamNation from PH Towers took on the heavyweights Big Pun and CJ from the DNA crew.

Well, it was hardly a battle, we wouldn't have had a chance...

Sadly, some PA problems disrupted the sound, but those that were there still supported the Hardcore. Regardless, it was the face of things to come - and a potential market tapper for bringing a Hardcore room to future St. James gig. Fingers crossed...

//stimulation : cube 06.12.03_

Stimulation was to be second of our PH offshoots incorporating an international Hardcore DJ, and after Hixxy rocking the Staircase just 9 months earlier, we wondered what DJ would lift the roof off Cube...

Well, we bit the bullet and were proud to present DJ Brisk to the PH massive! But that wasn't all, Brisk also brough his other hat for which he plays as one half of the Stimulant DJs. That's right - Stimulation was the ultimate battle: where Hardcore meets Hard Dance!

Brisk provided two exceptional sets of upfront Hard Dance, and later UK Hardcore. Jason Ng, DamNation and Nick Collings provided the Hard Dance, whilst Kam, Adam Bomb and special Chch guest DJ Firefly kept it full bore for the Hardheadz!!

Brisk proved to be such a professional insomniac that he even played an impromptu Trance set in the Planet Oldskool room until 7am. Touch!

Keeping up with the brand-name pimping sides of things, we managed to secure the official Album Release Party for Hixxy's "Hardcore 'til I Die" double CD.

Kiss Blue was our home-away-from-home again, with the PH residents (along with some special guests!) keeping the place rockin' right up until 6am!

Keep ears and eyes peeled for more release parties in the future!

//ph5 : cube 09.08.03_

Our first (majorly) themed gig, and a welcome return to Cube for the next major PH gig. The theme was that of "Nu Urban Warfare", where we invited partygoers to rock up in their favourite army gears - and some people made a heck of a lot of effort!

Planet Oldskool was still firmly clamped onto our heels, with our special guests providing an insight into their tunes past. It proved so popular that we'll be looking into standalone gigs in the future!

We received great feedback on the decor, and have since used it to theme each PH gig that little bit differentl!

//ph requestline : kiss blue 19.09.03_

A new offshoot of our major parties, PH Requestline was devised to bring back what we tried to beat out of people who cried out for it at - requests for classic Hardcore. Not only that, but it was our first birthday too!

A voting system was put in place on our website with a list of 30 tunes for people as their favourites - the most voted-for gaining priority play throughout the night (although we let it slide and played a few of the lesser voted tracks!)

A highly successful night that had the crowd singing, and the DJs rolling their eyes as Shooting Star got it's 5 millionth play...

//ph4 : cube 28.06.03_

While it was the middle of Winter - you wouldn't have thought it with the amount of eager ravers queueing up at 10pm to get in! I've never seen such a keen crowd! By 12am, it was starting to really pack up in the new home of Planet Hardcore, Cube. This venue is incredible, you'd swear it was purpose-built for us!

Scoobrider got the party started from 10-12 with some Oldskool Jungle and Drum & Bass, which got the floor warm for Kam who offered up some of the newer cuts - along with some special little numbers that he and Dammers had created themselves.

The back bar - now re-dubbed 'Planet Oldskool' - was attracting quite a crowd too, with all the PH residents spinning the tunes they grew up on. Adam Bomb hit the mainfloor next and played almost the whole back catalogue of Jelly Baby and Raver Baby, and the whistles started going nuts!

After chucking in a few oldies for good measure, Bomb stepped aside and welcomed the main event: "DamNation vs. Nforcer" to the decks. These two legends of the 90's Gabber scene battled it out for 2 hours (on 4 decks!) and the 400+ crowd was lapping it up! Before we knew it, the last set of the night was about to start, and the crowd gathered on the main floor for the last 90 minutes of pure cheese anthems being spun by the classix man himself, DJ 12 Inch.

Easily the best PH yet: the crowd were great, the venue was great, the whole gig was just...fuckin' great! The usual goodies were given out throughout the night (whistles, iceblocks, lollies) and the costumed ravers made the whole thing that little more special.

By Adam Bomb (aged nine).

//bonkers : staircase 01.03.03_

Taking a bit of a turnaround from our previous, smaller, R18-based gigs (and with DJ Hixxy currently on tour), we decided it was only a sensible idea if we took the liberty of booking one of the world's finest Hardcore DJs - and unleashing him in front of an awaiting crowd.

So, in order to take advantage of everyone experiencing it, we decided to take K'Road's biggest multi-zoned nightclub, stash all the booze off-premises and make it one massive Open Age party for all to enjoy! To keep the Trance, House and Breaks people happy, we accomodated for them and quenched their thirsts with the likes of Page 3, Peroxide, CJ, G-Way, Juliet and many more besides.

Who could also possibly forget the banters from three of Auckland's top MCs - and at some parts of the night, all going for it at the same time!

A huge thanks to all the volunteers that helped us finish the decor in time, and to Gray and the Staircase staff for allowing us to make the gig possible. Respek!

And just to keep you on ya toes, look out for another Bonkers later in the year...

//ph3 : jones 18.01.03_

With the PH Crew suffering a case of itchy feet, we moved on and were very lucky to secure one of our favourite clubs on K'Road: Jones Bar. With our third gig, we knew we were on to something special - so decided to redesign not only the flyer, but the entire gig intoa futuristic space-age feel.

Oh, and also going Anime bonkers.

With Manga DVDs projected on the wall, Chinese lanterns everywhere and 'Raiden hats' available for photo shoots, the night was only made more enjoyable by Scoob-E's repeated spillage of beverages, DamNation - again - horrifying those that were expecting something a little happier, and of course to the wonderful Jones bar staff and management.

We're still trying to bribe them to let us back in for another one...

//ph2 : crome 02.11.02_

With Mix proving to be a bit too small for our next gig, we moved to the now-closed Crome, and for the first time, welcomed special guest DJ 12 Inch to the PH stables. With the night now inclusive of 5 different DJs, this was going to a night of sheer mayhem.

Sadly, it wasn't. Only joking - we managed to attract even more people along for our second installament, to the point where we needed 4 door people in order to account for the influx of early arrivals!

With place still pumping well beyond 7am, it was just as well that Auckland's most nocturnal DJ (after Jason Jones) was on last this time round....

//ph1 : mix 28.09.02_

After weeks of opinion generating, polls and other hype on the main NZ dance music website forums, we decided to 'give it a go', and make an R18 Hardcore gig a reality - the first of its type in Auckland.

Bringing our first gig into the suitably decored walls of Mix Bar on K'Road, 4 of the now-resident DJs mashed up 4 very different sets, spanning the diverse beast that the Hardcore sound delivers. Notable moments included Scoob-E's drunken bar antics, Adam's continous air-punching to his set, and, as ever - DamNation frightening the majority of the crowd away for his 5am-close Gabber-fest.

A successful gig that paved the way for the sequels.
